Disney+ hit K-drama 'A Shop for Killers' to air on MBC

 MBC will bring Season 1 of the Disney+ original series A Shop for Killers to its home channel this summer as part of its special lineup.

MBC continues its premium acquisition strategy of selecting and scheduling OTT original content that combines both high production quality and strong buzz. Following its broadcasts of popular Disney+ titles such as Moving, the network has this time added the action drama A Shop for Killers, starring Lee Dong Wook and Kim Hye Joon, to its summer special lineup.

A Shop for Killers is based on the novel "The Killer's Shopping Mall" by Kang Ji Young. The series is directed by Lee Kwon. It is an action drama that follows the mysterious events that unfold after the death of a young girl's uncle, who leaves behind an unconventional shopping mall for her.

In the series, Lee Dong Wook plays Jeong Jin Man, an uncle who has been running a secretive shopping mall. Although he has raised his niece on his own, he is a man who has meticulously concealed both his past and the truth behind the shopping mall.

Centered on the relationship between uncle Jeong Jin Man and niece Jeong Ji An, the series follows Ji An's desperate struggle to survive after becoming the target of professional killers. Hidden secrets surrounding the mysterious shopping mall, the stories of its characters, and a plot that blends action with mystery, the drama is praised for its unique setting and execution. 

Season 1 came as the most-watched Korean Disney+ original series globally in 2024. By bringing to terrestrial television a title that had already proven its popularity on OTT platforms, the broadcast also carries added significance in offering a new viewing opportunity to audiences who may not have had the chance to watch the series previously.

The scheduling decision is seen as part of MBC's strategy to strengthen its content competitiveness by strategically incorporating highly successful productions while maintaining its focus on in-house content creation.
