It recently came to be known that Zhao Lu Si's studio issued a statement on its official Weibo account stating that they firmly oppose the infringement of the artist's rights that involves AI face-swapping, have the right to pursue legal accountability in accordance with the law, and will show zero tolerance against such acts.
On April 27, Zhao Lu Si's studio stated, "Recently, the company discovered that certain parties, without obtaining authorization from either the company or Zhao Lu Si herself, have arbitrarily used AI deep synthesis (face-swapping) technology to intercept and use, without permission, Zhao Lu Si's likeness, producing, editing, and disseminating related short web dramas that infringe on [her] rights. These acts have already seriously infringed upon Zhao Lu Si's portrait rights, reputation rights, and other civil rights, and have also harmed the company’s lawful rights and interests. The circumstances are severe."
It also stated that the company has commissioned a legal team to collect and preserve evidence related to the short dramas that infringed upon her rights, and noted that it reserves the right to pursue legal action against the parties involved.
At the same time, the studio stated that, in order to establish a long-term mechanism to address this new type of infringement, the company has partnered with professional monitoring agencies to set up a platform-wide AI face-swapping detection system. This system continuously monitors and screens infringing content across various platforms, handles such works, and seeks to curb such violations at the source.
It is also noted that since April, several celebrities' studios — including those of Gong Jun, Dylan Wang, Zhang Jing Yi, and Tan Jian Ci — have issued statements saying that certain online platforms, without authorization, have used their likenesses to produce and distribute AI series, demanding that the infringement cease and that the related videos be taken down.Source: Xi'an Headlines
